BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS FOR SUCCESS:
IMAGING ONE ANOTHER
Throughout the 2007-2008 school year, the Fort Wayne Museum of Art is distributing digital cameras to area
4th and 5th grade students as part of Building Relationships for Success: Imaging One Another , an outreach initiative funded by the Foellinger Foundation. The mission of the program is to strengthen relationships between participating students and their parents, adult caretakers, and mentors through the medium of digital photography.
“Imaging One Another was a great opportunity for my students,” Adams Elementary Art Teacher Tanya Sena said. “It empowered my students to express themselves, and it gave me the opportunity to learn things about them that I may have never known.”
A 4th grader from Weisser Park Elementary responded, “Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to let us borrow the cameras and take pictures of our families. I am glad I got to participate in this project.”
This year, over 500 students from qualifying Allen County schools will take home a camera and later respond with descriptive writing for a selected image. Each school’s photographs and narratives will be exhibited at the Museum during First Sunday! family programs (see list of upcoming exhibitions below).
