December 1, 2007 – April 20, 2008
Sponsored in part by: Northwest Allen County School, Fort Wayne Art League, Fort Wayne Educators Association, and the Allen County Public Library
Allen Say is best known for his children's books that combine elegant watercolors and powerful stories. He has garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards throughout his career. Say has been recognized by the Boston Globe, American Library Association and received a Caldecott Medal in 1994 for Grandfather's Journey. Beginning in 1988 with the book A River Dream, Say began writing and illustrating his own works exclusively.
In addition to Grandfather’s Journey and Kamishibai Man, works from Home of the Brave and Music for Alice are included, which touch on the Japanese American experience living in this country through World War II.
