The Fort Wayne Museum of Art has increased the size and scope of our free outreach programs. Programs like Gallery on Wheels, Imaging One Another and Yellow Bus Fund continue to be an important part of the regional education community.
This year we are adding an incredibly popular Fine Arts Day program which trains local artist to work with elementary students and provide innovative hands-on activities for an entire day at several local schools.

Gallery on Wheels
In a time of shrinking educational budgets, Gallery On Wheels provides a wonderful way for students to interact with and learn from art. Students will discuss standards based topics and have a chance to visualize concepts they are already learning in the classroom. Because of its overwhelming popularity, (13,500 students served in 06-07) the Fort Wayne Museum of Art has added 3 new collections, each with a different focus. To explore these collections click the titles listed above.
How much does it cost?
Thanks to organizations like the Fort Wayne Art League and community grants Gallery On Wheels is FREE!!!! However, we do ask you to coordinate with other teachers so that our visit is as productive as possible.

Imagine a day filled with hand-on activities with a real artist, musician, author, and arts educators. Curator of Children and Family Programs, Max Meyer came up with the idea after realizing the time savings for local teachers if FWMoA would plan the fine arts events. “Creating a menu of local artists to choose from allows schools to select artists, hands-on activity, Gallery On Wheels exhibits, and performances.” The program is designed to expose local students to the arts, while empowering local artists and saving local teachers 40-60 hrs of planning time per school.
