The Fort Wayne Museum
of Art offers an exciting array of Adult Programming that furthers
the understanding and promotes awareness of the excellence
and magnitude of the American tradition of fine arts through
the American Art Initiative.
Whether you’re in the mood to travel, critique, collect,
or want a challenging and rewarding internship – it’s
all here.
From provocative forums, to enlightening lectures and discussion
panels that entertain as they inform, the FWMoA truly has something
for everyone!
American Stories
These light but informative lectures, given by FWMoA Executive
Director Charles Shepard, chronicle the evolution of American
art by exploring the personal and professional lives of its
makers.
Art Scene
ArtScene is a dynamic opportunity to showcase local artists
of all media. Each month Curator of Adult Programs, Sarah
Aubrey, will introduce a guest artist who will present and
discuss their work.
Artist Forum Recognizing the need for artists to get out of the studio and convene with creative colleagues, Artist Forum gives artists, of all media, an opportunity to discuss issues important to them with Charles Shepard, FWMoA Executive Director, as well as attend concise informational sessions. All area artists are welcome and encouraged to participate in the lively discussion.
ArtSmart After Dark
Held twice annually, this talk-show format discussion program
features an ever-changing cast of guests who address topics
and issues in Modern and Contemporary art.
Crit!
Crit! is designed to both challenge our imagination and deepen
our appreciation of the issues faced by artists of our time.
Join us for a pleasantly dynamic evening of exploration and
conversation.
Learn a Bunch @ Lunch
Beat the daily grind with the Museum’s newest program — Learn a Bunch @ Lunch is a chance to see the Museum in a whole new way — and all on your lunch hour! These free, informal talks and tours will cover themes from the current exhibitions, to the FWMoA permanent collection, to art in general. Each Thursday will be different — truly a taste for all palates!
Lectures
The FWMoA Lecture Series supports the American Art Initiative
by inviting renowned scholars in American art to discuss
and chronicle the history, development, and influences of
all aspects of American art history and related topics. The
Distinguished Lecturer Series furthers this aim by utilizing
the exhibition in the Museum's main gallery as a departure
point to enhance our community's appreciation and understanding
of American Art in it's entirety.
Other Programs
There's always something exciting at the FWMoA! From Film Screenings
to Poetry Readings, from conferences to music theory debates,
this ever-changing cornucopia of offerings augments and enriches
our annual programming menu.
