The galleries will be open and the FWMoA will be hosting an afternoon of appraisals on Wednesday, July 16, featuring local experts who will offer insight into your attic. Stop by to see local jewelry artists at work throughout the afternoon. You will be amazed at the intricacy and skill as they create works of art right before your eyes!

Christie Romero “Women of the Craft Movement”

Noted jewelry historian, gemologist and instructor Christie Romero will chronicle the innovation and talent of women jewelers throughout the 20th century and beyond.

Bring in your fine antique and period jewelry or vintage costume jewelry and have one of our experts identify it and offer insight into your family heirloom. Don’t forget — this weekend is your last chance to view American Modernist Jewelry 1940-1970, guest curated by Marbeth Schon, in the galleries! This seminal show is one of the first major exhibitions to focus on American modernist jewelry from such an extensive group of artists. American Modernist Jewelry brings together the work of over 90 artists who broke away from the mainstream of jewelry design and looked to the fine arts for inspiration.

 

Art of Reading Book Club

Join the Art of Reading Book Club! These lively discussions will cover books new and old; books with an art twist and books that you simply can’t put down. There’s something for everyone and maybe even something that surprises you!

The FWMoA Art of Reading Book Club is a casual setting for discussion. All are welcome. Feel free to drop in without attending previous meetings or attend only as your schedule permits. An RSVP is appreciated but not required. All meetings will be in the FWMoA library from 6:30 - 8 pm.

The Fort Wayne Museum of Art is dedicated to enriching the lives of the Latino community in NE Indiana through bilingual tours, Spanish language gallery handouts and annual programming during Hispanic Heritage Month.

The Art of Cooking with Lindi Miller

Tuesdays • 6 – 8 pm

Spice up your Tuesday nights! Join us for hands-on cooking classes led by expert chef Lindi Miller of Deli 620. Classes in the Museum’s state of the art kitchen will teach techniques, offer tips, introduce new ingredients, and give you the confidence to replicate the dishes at home. Come have fun in our kitchen!

Make your reservations early; spaces will be filled on a first-come basis and requests for a specific day (Tuesday vs. Wednesday) will be considered but cannot be guaranteed. Come hungry — you’ll get to sample your handiwork!
