Our Scholastic Program, which features the Art & Writing Awards competition, along with a standing-room-only Recognition Ceremony and a ten-week exhibition of award winners, continues to gain momentum. We are one of only 15 Scholastic Programs in the country to offer the full art & writing program and our region includes schools in 58 counties in Indiana and Ohio. Last year, the winning students in our program went on to win more national awards than students in other Indiana regions. In the process of receiving national recognition, our young artists join the ranks of many celebrated American artists and writers which include luminaries such as Richard Avedon, Andy Warhol, Bernard Malamud, Robert Redford, Sylvia Plath, Joyce Carol Oates, Luis Jimenez and Truman Capote, among others.
This growth and success rate speaks volumes about the talent of our region’s students and the quality of our teachers. The Museum is wholly committed to helping cultivate this growing pool of young artistic talent and we are grateful to JP Morgan Chase and The News Sentinel for the generous support of our Scholastics Program.
