The American Scene
December 1, 2007 – January 27, 2008
This exhibition focuses on American art created during the first decades of the 20th century through World War II. The artworks touch on a wide range of subjects including technological advances, rising urban centers, Midwestern farmlands, changing work patterns as well as the Great Depression and New Deal programs. Among the artists included are George Bellows, Isabel Bishop, Charles Burchfield, Elizabeth Catlett, Minna Citron, Edward Hopper, Martin Lewis, Louis Lozowick, Abraham Walkowitz and the recent donation of woodcuts by Rockwell Kent. |
