The Fort Wayne Museum of Art is excited to present the newest way to experience the Museum – podcasting! This series of regular audio segments
will offer news, features, and hidden treasures from the FWMoA.

Podcasts are radio-style shows delivered over the Internet to your computer. These can be played through your computer; they can also be transferred to
your MP3 player or iPod for you to listen whenever you wish (for example, you
can listen to them while you walk through the FWMoA galleries). You can also "subscribe" to the podcast provider which will ensure you are updated automatically whenever a new podcast is available. Further information on how it works and full catalogs of podcasts available can be seen at iTunes and iPodder.

Each episode of illuminating audio will be different and may include: information about current and upcoming exhibitions and public programs, interviews with artists, museum visitors, curators, conservators, educators, and others. You can enjoy the Podcasts before or after a visit, or even as its own experience. Each podcast will feature new and unique insights that will allow visitors to explore the FWMoA in a whole new way. Best yet, the FWMoA Podcasts are completely free.

We are starting with the launch of Uncommon Commentary, a series featuring a fresh look at the current exhibition through the eyes of two local artists: Jason Stopa and Audrey Riley. In the coming months we plan to add behind-the-scenes guides, interviews, tours & more for your listening pleasure. An iPod is not necessary to listen to a podcast audio program.

Podcast FAQs

What is Podcasting?

"Podcasting" is a hybrid of the terms "broadcasting" and "iPod." It is a relatively new method for distributing audio, video, and other media files over the Internet. A true podcast is distinct from other types of online media delivery because of its subscription model. Operating much like a magazine subscription, podcast delivery is through a subscription "feed," usually RSS or "Really Simple Syndication."  Subscribers receive regular updates on the media files available for download from the Web pages they select.

How do I listen to a podcast?
Click on the "Listen now" links to listen to podcast episodes immediately or download to your computer or MP3 player for later listening. You can also subscribe to get podcast updates automatically.  A recommended podcast application is Apple's iTunes, which works with both Windows and Mac OS.
Download iTunes for free here.

How do I subscribe to the FWMoA podcast feed?
If you have iTunes installed: Open iTunes, choose "Subscribe to Podcast" from the "Advanced" menu, and copy and paste the podcast feed URL into the "Subscribe to Podcast" window.

If you use other podcasting software, directions will vary. Please consult the "Help" section of your software.

Do I need to own an iPod to enjoy a podcast?
No. Neither podcasting nor listening to podcasts requires an iPod. Any digital audio player or computer with audio-playing software can store and play podcasts.

How much do FWMoA Podcast episodes cost?
Nothing! FWMoA Podcast episodes are FREE, whether you download one episode or subscribe to receive all episodes automatically.

If I choose the "Download" option,
how do I listen to the podcast program?

If you don’t have a digital audio player, you may download and listen to a podcast from any computer that has audio software. To download a podcast to your computer, right-click the desired audio file and select “Save as…” from the pull-down menu. Mac users: Press the “Control” key, click on the link, and select “Download linked file.”

iPod users: Open iTunes, then go to “File > Add to Library…” When the dialogue box appears, browse your system for the downloaded file. When you find it, click “Choose” to pull it into your iTunes library. The podcast should be available on your player the next time you sync your iPod with iTunes.
