Bower’s photography captures the soul of Indiana’s forgotten past in Lingering Spirit. As a photographer,
Bower is motivated by the excitement in rediscovering what has been ignored or
cast aside. To him, the abandoned houses and rusting automobiles populating the
state’s countryside display not only Indiana’s unique heritage, but still
retain the energy of their former owners. By employing the inherent drama of
black and white photography, Bower is able to capture the essence of his
subjects. His main goal is to preserve the richness that surrounds Hoosiers,
yet often goes unnoticed.
